Family Link workers – Hayley Davies and Nikki Hammond

At Southview, we feel it is vital to offer a service for parents/carers who may feel at some point, that they need a period of more intense support. This could be because they have recently joined the school, their child may be going through a transition stage or they may be experiencing some difficulty with their child at home or out in the community. Whatever the reason, our Family Link Workers, Hayley and Nikki are there to provide support and a link to help the Student and their family progress and work effectively within the home, school and community.

 Support Given

Hayley Davies  

I can help and support you with the following:-

• Form completion
• Social care contact
• Attending and supporting relevant appointments / meetings
• Liaising with third party professionals
• Home visits
• Contactable when sometimes you just want to talk about a concern you have and would like someone to listen.

Nikki Hammond

My role is to specifically support communication within the home and community.

What the communication / AAC help might look like:-

• Liaising with AAC suppliers, professionals, help finding advice /guidance with hardware or software suitability/ availability.
• Supporting with possible communication challenges you may experience.
• Support in developing communication skills, accessing / using AAC, transference of these skills between school and home and in the community.
• Makaton Signing support and training
• Identifying and help with making AAC resources / Programming
• Working on skills development for total communication in all areas.
• Home visit.  Team / Zoom meetings
• Resources – Sensory / Interactive or Social stories, now / next Boards – profiles / Programming devices PCS
• Symbols O.O.R (Object of reference) vocabulary for support at home
• Arranging Makaton signing training / support
